In the West side of Vrontados, the Epos mountain ( with a height of 400-450 m ) lies with a magnificent view of the town of Vrontados and of Chios as well as a view of the sea channel that separates the Isle of Chios from Asia (Turkey). The road is full of turns. |

| On the 7th Km (first bending) one meets the chapel of Saint Makarios near the cave in which he lived. Reaching the eight bending there is the Monument of those brave warriors of Greek Navy who were heroically killed in 1912 in the battle of "Epos" where 2.200 Turks had sheltered, after the liberation of the town of Chios (11 November 1912) with Zichni Beis. At the chapel of saint George at Flori, situated in the center of mount Epos, the celebration of shepherds, in the middle of May, is a well known local celebration. During the festival you can enjoy milk, local cheese and other local specialties, till late at night. |

The last years there is the Aeolian park for the generation of electricity, which supplies the houses of Athletic Village of Epos. This village is a work that was finished this year, while the idea existed since 1985. In the athletic center there is a track, water track, football ground and are under construction fields of volley-ball, basket-ball and tennis court, swimming-pool, football field Olympic measurements and fields of beach volley 5X5. |

Particularly
many of these will be used for training for the Olympian of 2004, where
there is going to offer hospitality to the Greek athletes in the 50 houses
that already exists in the athletic village. But, this summer, for a first time were sheltered here, in the village, lots of young people from different corners of Europe in a project called " Multimedia Crossroad 2001", which was organized by Hellenic Institute of Education and New Technologies, in the 17-26 of July, in Chios. The countries which participated were : Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Romania, Bulgaria and Spain. |
| The main goal of the whole project was to cooperate, to exchange ideas, by participating in different workshops, to develop personal abilities and to learn something new, by having fun and working together, at the same time. In this project, using different ways of expression such as cameras, video cameras, radios, computers and musical instruments under the same spirit, the youngsters have the chance to live like people in a Mediterranean country live, by being in Greece and in one of its most beautiful islands, Chios. These youngsters, aged fifteen to twenty five, who lived in the village had the chance, in their free time, to play team games like foot ball and basket ball, or be in the swimming pool having fun, go for walks in town and visit many villages of Chios, by using public coach each day. |

We believe that this project was very well organized, with high spirit and responsibility from the team of Hellenic Institute of Education and New Technologies, which in cooperation with the Municipality of Homeroupolis brings together people with different mentality and temperament
.
Many of these people managed to become friends and keep in touch after the end of this summer project. |
