13 of December 1915. The inauguration of the School.
The picture from the inauguration day. The people, the municipal authorities, the priests, the local dignitaries, the donators. The imposing, neoclassic building against a background of a soft wave of the hills around wrapped in his black and white silence. Motionless there were and the little children, the first students of the school. Silent  the snap swallows the words, the sounds, the joy, the emotion -the historic, unreturned date : 13 of December 1915. Since then the school was operated as a public School for boys only. In 1930 the school became mixed with the nickname 1st Primary School of Vrontados.

I
n Saint George by the year 1845 came into operation the first village Primary School only for boys and by the year 1870 there was also a Primary School that girls could go too, but separate from boys. The first of these was in the new building, close to the Cathedral of Saint George, at the public expenses. The second one was in working order in the church's cell. But when the disastrous earthquake of 22 March 1881 happened in Chios, the Schools and the church were damaged.

But in 1882 with a suggestion of admiral Troter, at England expenses, to help the earthquake victims there was built a new wooden School, near the first one, where today is situated the parish church of Saint George. This new School was only for boys, while the first one, after the repair, was the new School for girls until the year 1926.

Until 1881 there was mutual teaching in these Schools, with one teacher or sometimes with an assistant. There were 8 classes in School with, about 700 students, some of them coming from the area of Livadia.

But by the time, mister Revelis new method was put into practice, there had to be something done to bring Schools into a better operation. So the teachers, Dimitris Tellis and Andreas Pithis, had to go to the town, two times every week, to be taught the new teaching method by Reveli. But because of the long distance the two teachers, old men, could not stand the trouble walking there every day, so younger teachers took these lessons instead.

In 1885 Schools were performed and converted, with the new system, from 8 classes to 4 classes, with two teachers.
The School in his final shape, at the year 1915, was situated on the Cathedral church's property at the committee expenses and other donators. In total 67.745 drachmas.

The foundation stone of the School was placed at 6 of August 1914 and the inauguration was celebrated at 13 of December 1915, with many people from town and Vrontados celebrating this great event.
