OUR MAYOR
| Mister
Mark Mennis, an engineer in the Public Service of Electricity, was born in Vrontados in 1946.
He is married to Despina Psarra and has two daughters. He graduated from the Merchant Navy School in Chios in 1964 and he was in practice, reaching the degree of chief engineer. In 1974 he was hired to work in the Public Service of Electricity in Chios, where he developed a strong trade - union action too. He was elected Mayor of Vrontados for two continual, four - year periods (1982 - 1990). He had been also a General Secretary in the South Aegean Constituency (1989) and Prefect of Lesvos (1990). He elected Mayor of the new and expanded, Municipality of Homeroupolis, supported by the party of Pan Hellenic Socialistic Movement and by the Coalition party, in the 2nd round, with 50.3% percent. |
