Every year, the last Sunday of September take place at the cathedral by Municipality of Vrontados, commemoration on behalf of the souls of dead " by any occasion Vrontadian seamen ". The commemoration was established after our liberation from the German occupation. |
| It is a demonstration of respect and honor to the fighters of the sea, all the heroic seamen, who left their last breath in their home between their beloved relatives, or in an inhospitable land or even- and mainly for these had established - in the sea and the oceans and had a tragic death.
After the devout commemoration, in which are present the Authorities of the island, we have a cortege, which starts from the cathedral and ends to a place near the sea in front of the town hall, where is situated the statue of the Lost Sailor and there is a requiem where they lay wreaths. |
